What's Inside?

Solar Data

As SLO County DEC (ARES District Emergency Coordinator), John Bonnett (KK6JRA) coordinates the area Hams for any County RACES call outs. To help facilitate that, one of the things he has set up is a Cell Text Message "blaster" that can quickly send out short messages in case of an emergency.

Both Morro Bay and Cambria CERT groups are currently using this, and John would like to extend it to Hams in San Luis Obispo, northern Santa Barbara, and southern Monterey Counties that are interested.

Folks on this list will occasionally receive test messages and announcements about county-wide emergency drills, and in the event of a RACES activation by San Luis Obispo OES, an activation message to turn on their Ham radios to the emergency repeaters for further information.

If you would like to receive SLO County RACES callout messages on your cell phone, please email John at
