Present the club treasurer, at a club meeting, with your Technician class license or a Certificate of Successful Completion obtained within the last six months, and we'll grant you a year's free club membership. The Estero club is dedicated to the promotion and training of new hams.

Also, ask about being assigned an "Elmer." That's ham radio jargon for a mentor, someone you can feel free to contact for advice and help. Your Elmer may even be able to find you a loaner radio while you decide what you would like to purchase. It is often not a good idea to make this decision until you have some experience. Our members know by practical experience what is good in the long run. For example, new hams often have the tendency to "go it on their own" and buy an inadequate inexpensive "starter" radio they soon cast aside.

Members will also readily discuss with you the local repeaters as well as the social and technical activities of our club. For example, we meet weekly for a friendly get-together [BREAKFAST].
